Madagascar has a tropical climate strongly influenced by its topography, vegetation and winds. But generally, there are two seasons: the dry season (including the austral winter) from April to October and the rainy season, from November to March. The best time of the year to visit the island is between September October.
- The Highlands (region of Antananarivo) : the dry season lasts from April to October, with an austral winter period from June to August. Rainfall is heavy but short in duration, from mid-November to March only.
- The West Coast : this is the driest and sunniest coast of Madagascar.
- The East Coast : is rainier, especially from December to March, which is the official rainy season. The months of September, October and November are the driest.
