The history of the Bay of Diego Suarez is part of the great adventure of trade exchanges that are formed between Madagascar and Europe starting in the sixteenth century, at which time two Portuguese navigators chose to settle in the region and to baptise the land with their first names: Diego and Suarez.

Diego Suarez, whose real name is Antsiranana, overlooks a beautiful bay (the world's second largest by area after Rio de Janeiro), surrounded by the famous emerald sea, so named in reference to the extraordinary colour of its waters!

It is a crossroad that is steeped in history, where many communities of different origins live peacefully in the city: Yemenis, Somalis, Comoros, Arabs, Chinese, Indo-Pakistanis, and French share the daily lives of the Antankarana and Sakalava people. The island possesses invaluable cultural wealth for this reason alone!

As for wildlife, get ready for strange and interesting encounters: a score of species of lemurs live peacefully in the island, among them, the crowned lemur, the strange Aye-Aye, the Lemur fulvus, and the brown mouse lemur, highlight the exotic atmosphere of this trip ...
