Madagascar, the Tsingy

Nature is an accomplished artist who creates extraordinary shapes offering us an amazing show; this describes the Tsingy formations, carved in the rock, they are true cathedrals of limestone, coral massifs formed by a dense network of rifts, crevices, surfaces of limestone blocks carved into blades or sharp needles. These limestone rocks, formed by a deposit of fossils and shells 200 million years ago, were shaped by the rains 5 million years ago, and provide one of Madagascar's most spectacular landscapes!

The Tsingy of Bemaraha Reserve, which is on the west of Madagascar just above Morondava, is a World Heritage of Unesco nature sanctuary.

The Tsingy contain six species of lemurs, reptiles and fifty-three varieties of birds.

It is also home to one of the smallest species of chameleon, the Brookesia Perarmata.

Conditioned by the natural vagaries (wind, rain, trail conditions ...), the visit to Tsingy is done between June and November for the Small Tsingy, and between July and October for the bigger massifs.

The Tsingy of Ankarana in the north, between Diego Suarez and the city of Ankify on the west coast port of embarkation to Nosy Be should not be missed either.
